Rachel Blanche MA MLitt - Senior Consultant
Rachel Blanche offers a unique and highly effective combination of skills. Having served in the Diplomatic Service in London and overseas in a variety of policy and analysis roles, she has highly developed representational and networking skills. An Arabic speaker and Middle East specialist, Rachel has operated in war zones.

As a freelance consultant Rachel has been involved in high profile national and international cultural initiatives.

Her advisory experience as a diplomat includes:

  • Briefing and advising UK policymakers and the Cabinet Office on political and security developments in the Middle East
  • Monitoring and analysing high profile policy issues including the Middle East Peace Process and foreign affairs post-September 11.

Rachel also has extensive experience of international representation through liaison with UK government departments and agencies as well as European, UN, Middle Eastern and American political bodies.

Rachel has two degrees from St Andrews University – an MA Honours (First Class) in Arabic and International Relations and an MLitt (with Distinction) in International Security.

How We Work
Although based in Edinburgh we are happy to travel according to your needs. For research, analysis and advisory projects we typically produce a written report and/or an oral presentation. In addition to this, we submit regular informal briefing papers during longer-term projects. A comprehensive Record of Consultant's Activity is presented with each invoice.

Our prices are scaled according to the length of contract, with a daily rate for projects lasting for three weeks or less, and a monthly fee for longer-term projects. Prices can be tailored and structured according to your requirements. We are able to handle small tasks or whole projects, on a part-time or full-time basis.

In April 2004 Rachel Blanche was shortlisted for the Shell LiveWire Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award in Scotland and was awarded a MERIT AWARD in the competition.

The Young Entrepreneur Award recognises outstanding achievement by young business people who have pioneered their own successful business.

Rachel Blanche, who set up her company Blanche Policy Solutions in 2003, was recognised for her central involvement in major international and cultural programmes for Scotland within her first 12 months of business.
